 Molly Hartman-O'Connell joined the Downey McGrath Group, Inc. as an Associate in March, 2008. Molly assists DMG’s vice presidents with legislative research and client servicing, particularly on Medicare, Medicaid, and public health
issues. Molly came to DMG from the Medicare Rights Center where she worked as a Health Policy Fellow in the organization’s Washington, DC office. As a Fellow, Molly wrote and edited policy newsletters and advocacy materials while also serving as the group’s representative on issue coalitions. |

Prior to working in the Medicare Rights Center, Molly spent three years in Vietnam as a Fulbright Scholar where she researched family planning programs in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and studied popular war-era music under the direction of scholars at the HCMC Institute of Music. Her research projects involved working alongside the Vietnamese government, non-governmental organizations, and community health clinics. Fluent in Vietnamese, much of the research produced during her time in HCMC has been featured in Vietnamese publications and on the country’s main television networks.
Following her return to the United States, Molly served as the interim coordinator of women’s health grants at Charles B. Wang Community Health Center in New York City. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University where she graduated with cum laude honors and departmental distinction in anthropology. |
