Delanne
Bernier joined the Downey
McGrath Group in 2000 as a
Vice President. During
her tenure, she has worked
extensively on a myriad of
legislative and regulatory
issues, including health care,
intellectual property, tax,
trade, education, banking,
agriculture, environment and
appropriations.
Delanne has provided strategic
planning and implementation to
protect and increase health
care providers'
Medicare/Medicaid
reimbursements. She has
been instrumental in moving
legislation through the House
and Senate Judiciary
Committees on copyright and antitrust
issues. In the tax and
trade arenas, Delanne has
helped clients enjoy success
with both Congress and the
Administration, including
obtaining written
clarification of IRS revenue
provisions for a major trade
association, which positively
impacted its member companies'
bottom-line financial
positions.
Delanne has provided many
clients with comprehensive
coordination for their visits
to Washington. She has
organized, implemented and
overseen numerous and diverse
events on Capitol Hill which
showcased our clients'
resources before federal
decision-makers. |

Delanne's
twenty years of government
relations experience for
corporations and national
trade associations brings a
diverse background to Downey
McGrath. Prior to
joining DMG Delanne served as
Vice President, Federal
Government Relations at the
Wine and Spirits Wholesalers
of America, Inc (WSWA), a
national trade association
representing liquor and wine
distributors. In her
seven years at WSWA, her major
areas of expertise included
taxation, health and numerous
large and small business
issues. Delanne was an
active participant in
developing and implementing
successful legislative
strategies for defeating
excise tax increases, enacting
subchapter S corporation
reform, and resolving a
national motor carrier
dispute.
Prior to that she spent two
years working on state and local
government relations issues
for the Distilled Spirits
Council of the United States
(DISCUS), focusing on
environmental and trade
practices issues.
Delanne also spent eleven
years at Philip Morris as a
federal advocate for food,
tobacco, beverage,
transportation and
agricultural issues. In
addition, she was active in
passage of the first patent
law rewrite in over 40 years.
A graduate of Georgetown
University, Delanne Bernier
holds a Bachelor of Science
from its School of Foreign
Service. She is
currently a member of the
Capitol Hill Club Board of
Governors and Executive
Committee, and chairs its
House Committee. |
